Chennai: Actor Dhanush's production venture Visaaranai will be first film in Tamil language to have its world premiere in the competition section of the upcoming at 72nd Venice International Film Festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place between September 2 and 15.
Dhanush tweeted:
Directed and co-produced by National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran, Visaaranai is based on true events and is about police interrogation techniques and brutality.
The film, which is yet to hit the Indian screens, stars Dinesh, Anandhi, Ajay Ghosh, Samuthirakani, Murugadoss and Misha Ghosal in important roles.
Visaaranai is Dhanush's second film as producer to get international recognition, after the critically acclaimed Kaaka Muttai.
The festival is scheduled to take place between September 2 and 15.
