Dharmendra's Appeal To Punjab Youth To Give Up Drugs
Jalandhar: Bollywood veteran Dharmendra is spreading the anti-drug message in his own filmi way. While at the closing of the Punjab Games here, the actor threatened to climb the nearest water tank, as in his cult hit Sholay, if the youth did not stop using drugs.

The 75-year-old attended the closing ceremony of the Games, along with his actor sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol and spoke at length about the increasing cases of drug addiction in the state of Punjab.

"Healthy youngsters are crucial to the state and country's progress. Unfortunately this is not happening and Punjabi society is increasingly plagued by drug abuse," said Dharmendra.

"If you want an addiction, get addicted to sports, get addicted to working for your country's development," said the actor.

As a finishing flourish to his speech, Dharmendra told the audience, "Jalandhar walon, agar tumne nashe ki aadat nahi chhodi toh mein paani ki tanki par chaddh jaoonga (If you do not give up on drugs I will climb a water tank).
