Dimple Kapadia will play the lead in Viacom 18's next titled DaanaPaani. Sources say she bagged the role over several seasoned veteranactresses.
A source from the crew says, "The role was narrated to the Bobbyactress, to Shabana Azmi and to Deepti Naval. Shabana loved the scriptand the character and immediately agreed to do the film.
It was a tough decision for producers to chose between the three talented actors, but they eventually picked Dimple."
A source from the crew says, "It is a madcap comedy, designed on thelines of Dibakar Bannerjee's films because of its Delhi backdrop anddialect."
The movie has an ensemble cast and features actors like Manu Rishi and Manjot Singh of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye fame and Sumit Suri from Khatron Ke Khiladi. Gurmeet Singh, who assisted Ashutosh Gowarikar in Jodhaa Akbar, is directing the film.
Divulging on the plot, the source reveals, "Dimple has to go out of town for a month. She has a fish aquarium and needs someone to feed her fish. She tells her niece to look after them in her absence.
After she leaves, her niece also goes away for some urgent work and passes the responsibility of feeding the fish to her fianc ©. This task gets passed on to as many as 12 people." The film went on floor four days ago and is being shot in Faridabad.
