After a gap of three years, DJAqeel has launched his sixth studio album Forever 2, whichhas remix version of many hit songs of 1970s and 1980s.
The Shake It Daddy Mix hitmaker, who gave a new leaseof life to the club music with his alternative version of oldBollywood numbers, has also incorporated two brand new Punjabinumbers from his newly formed band Indian House Mafia with DJSuketu and Sukhbir Singh.
"My album Forever 2 is basically a remix of hit numbersof 70s and 80s. It's a special album for me as it's my firstalbum in 3 years. I have always worked with the songs of thatera because I feel they were the most beautiful numbers. Igenerally release an album after two years but this one tooktime because I was busy with my night club," Aqeel told PTI.
Aqeel has used singers Babul Supriyo and Vaishali Samantfor the album, produced by Universal music.
When the clubs are dominated by the electronic and transmusic, DJ Aqeel feels that remixes are back on the scene."Remixes were not played in the night clubs two years agobut they are coming back again. Bollywood music is somethingwhich has always dominated the club music in India. There arevery few musicians who do remixes and that is why they werelosing its sheen," he added.
After being in the industry for two decades, Aqeel saysthe scenario of club music is changing with the increase innumber of international DJs visiting the country.
"It's an amazing move. With this kind of exchange ofmusic, we are getting a global experience. People have becomemore aware about the other genres of music," he said.
The musician is currently busy with a track for actressAmeesha Patel's debut home production.
