Movies hold a special place in our hearts, mostly because of the storyline and star cast. But, in the middle of the all-glam portrayal of larger-than-life characters, we, the audience, often forget that the stars are also human. Fans, at times, are unable to accept their failure. A case in point is this Reddit thread that talks about “actors who have gotten worse as they get older”. No need to pull out your swords. It's just a discussion that a user has started on the social media platform. The person has also penned a long message. It starts like this, “Usually an actor or actress gets better as they get older and get more experience but I have witnessed a phenomenon where it seems some of them are getting worse.”

Well, the user thinks that Mark Wahlberg is “just woodenly delivering lines and has no energy or emotion.”  A part of the note read, “I started thinking about this and realised I liked him [Mark Wahlberg] in older movies but his more recent stuff is less and less good.” And, there is a question for everyone out there. Read it here. “Has anyone else noticed this or can think of any other actors that fall into this category?”

Well, well, people have reacted to it. And, here we go.

1.Marlon Brando

The Oscar-winning actor doesn't need an introduction. As per the thread, Marlon Brando is the “most famous case” in this category. A user said, “His body almost intentionally went to hell. He was difficult to work with. Didn't even learn his lines.”

Another added, “I think he [Marlon Brando] also used an earpiece with someone reading the lines in his ear.”

Users have also pointed out the films that Marlon Brando did later in his career. One " bad performance" recalled on the platform was Don Juan Demarco, which was released in 1994. The film featured actor Johnny Depp as Don Juan. The plot revolves around Marlon Brando's character Dr Jack Michler, a psychiatrist. and his patient Don Juan. The Island of Dr Moreau, released in 1996, saw Marlon Brando, then 72, play the role of Dr Moreau.

2.Liam Neeson

There was quite a debate on him. It all started when a user said, “I have avoided most of his newer movies, but Cold Pursuit was refreshing in my opinion. I just happened to watch it because my dad suggested it, and it was a decent dark comedy movie.”

A person replied, “Cold Pursuit worked because it was a remake of a Norwegian movie by the same director. It lures you in as a revenge movie but turns into a dark comedy revenge movie which is refreshing.”

Apart from Cold Pursuit, Liam Neeson's recent movie outings include The Ice Road, The Marksman, Honest Thief among others. He was last seen in Blacklight, released in February this year.

3. John Cusack

John Cusack, the loverboy of the 80s, is famous for hits like Say Anything. But of late it seems, his charm is dying. We aren't saying this. It is on the thread. “John Cusack - far and away my favourite actor from the 80s and 90s. Now, I actively avoid anything he's in recently.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, another wrote, “Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity are two peak Cusack movies. And, yeah, I haven't seen any of his new stuff." Grosse Pointe Blank, directed by  George Armitage, saw John Cusack, plays Martin Blank, a professional assassin. And, in High Fidelity,  John Cusack's Rob is busy finding the reason behind his failed relationships.

Some have also declared that Room 1048, released in 2007, was the last good movie John Cusack was in.

"Exactly the same, I love old Cusack. I watched one of his "newer" movies, Drive Hard," read a comment. The Brian Trenchard-Smith directorial, Drive Hard, made its way to the theatres in 2014.

Pursuit, Never Grow Old, River Runs Red are some of his recent movie outings.

4. Al Pacino (The GodFather)

Fans think that the Academy Award-winning actor is “always great when he's got a strong director to work with”.

Justifying the roles picked by Al Pacino, this person added, “He's openly said that he chooses very few good roles these days because he doesn't feel he has anything else to prove and he chooses projects mostly to see if he can make a not great script into a good movie by his work in it. A challenge to himself.”

Al Pacino, 81, was last seen on House Of Gucci, which was released last year. He played the role of Aldo Gucci.

5. Harrison Ford

Redditers think that Harrison Ford “always seems inconvenienced”.

Some have mentioned that the Star Wars actor “just seems annoyed to be in whichever movie he happens to be.”

“Does he not care or is he losing his facility to act,” was one of the questions that got everyone's attention. To this, a user said, “I think you nailed the point right on the head. He doesn't care. The man is retired. All his straight to VOD movies requires him to do one or two days' worth of work and receive a million dollars in return. It's a great gig to earn some extra cash in his waning  years.”

Harrison Ford, in the latter half of his career, has worked in films like The Call of the Wild, Ender's Game, Cowboys & Aliens among others. He will next feature in Indiana Jones  5.
