Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) iscelebrating Indian cinema with a special tribute to legendarydirector Yash Chopra, who passed away recently.
The festival, the annual cultural celebration of DohaFilm Institute (DFI), is also organising panel discussionswith leading directors and actors from the Indian filmindustry.
DTFF 2012, which will open with the Middle East premiereof Mira Nair's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' on November 17,will screen Yash Chopra last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The ShahRukh Khan-starrer will be screened on November 20.
DFI is also hosting a complimentary screening of Jab TakHai Jaan for the construction workforce and technicians fromthe wider community in Qatar. The festival will also featurethe 1995 blockbuster Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, which wasproduced by Yash Chopra and directed by his son Aditya Chopra.
The film will be screened as part of the complimentarycommunity screenings at an open-air cinema on November 21.
David O Russell's Anupam Kher-starrer Silver LiningsPlaybook will run in the 'Special Screenings' segment.
Nair will discuss the making of The ReluctantFundamentalist, mapping her journey to five countries acrossthree continents.
DTFF's Jury Member and director Ashutosh Gowariker willparticipate in the discussion 'Going Global: Can BollywoodFilms Really Crossover?' with Shimit Amin, Kher andVice-President of International Promotions for Yash Raj Films,Avtar Panesar.
The session will be moderated by established film criticRajeev Masand.
