New Delhi:
Her provocative debut in Ragini MMS has grabbed headlines for its explicit content but Kainaz Motivala says that she does not want to be branded "bold".
The 21-year-old shed both her inhibitions and her clothes for the movie about a young couple who are taped while having sex in a haunted house.
"I have already been branded bold. But that is an unfair conclusion as it is based on just one film. I am not bold in real life. These scenes were required in the film to take the plot ahead. It is definitely not a publicity stunt," said Kainaz.
The Mumbai girl, who was earlier seen in bit roles in Wake Up Sid and Paathshala, said she was squeamish about the scenes but her co-star Raj Kumar Yadav put her at ease.
Unlike Kainaz, he had experience to fall back on as he had earlier shot a much talked about sex scene in DibakarBannerjee's Love Sex Aur Dhokha.
"I was uncomfortable doing the intimate scenes. But Raj had done such scenes in Love, Sex Aur Dhokha already, sohe helped me," said the young actress.
"He's a trained actor from FTII and just by watching him work, I've learned so much. It's so much fun working with a good actor because it automatically raises the bar for your performance too," she said.
The actress is pleased with the buzz created by the film, thanks to its suggestive posters and a media campaign which has focused on its erotic content.
"We never imagined that it will become so huge. But the interest that this film has generated is beyond my imagination," she said.
Motivala was selected by producer Ekta Kapoor after two rounds of auditions and the 'soap queen' has since becomeKainaz's mentor.
"Ekta is sweet and gave me a lot of 'pep' talk. She was encouraging and very motivating. She told me to do a good job and not get stressed about it. She is also very passionate about her work. She has contributed immensely to promote the film and it is because of her that the film has gained so much attention already," she added.
Though the actress' previous screen outings went unnoticed, Kainaz hopes that Ragini MMS will open up new opportunities for her.
"I have two offers in hand but nothing has been signed as of now. Both the roles are strong and powerful just like Ragini," she said.
