You can't help but get charmed by Barfi - a "chalu Chaplin" - as actor Ranbir Kapoor fondly calls his eponymous character in Anurag Basu's film.
It's hard to ignore Ranbir's magnetic draw, as he humoured fans and the press on his whirlwind promotional drive for Barfi!, looking casually dapper in baggy pants, a casual tee and a sports jacket, the sleep deprived Kapoor was loving every moment of his multi ciy tour as a run up to the big release.
Playing the mute Murphy, who is referred to as Barfi, Ranbir said - "Though the inspiration was Charlie Chaplin, Mr Bean and Bus Keaton, Barfi! is totally Anurag Basu's vision - who said 'Ranbir just make him lovable'. We actors arrived on the set with no idea what scene were we shooting and were told to have fun with our characters in their journey from the 70's to the present day."
The actor who doesn't believe in stereotypes, said he wanted to play every character that came his way. So does a Barfi! stand a chance amongst the Rowdy Rathore's and the Tiger's?
Ranbir said, "The Rowdy Rathore's and the Tigers are important, these stars can command a fan follwiing and box office draw. I am not in that league yet, but hopefully someday doing movies like these, which the audience hopefully likes I hope too that I can rise to those heights too."
So, what does he make of being called the next superstar in rising?
"I have no notions about myself, yes I am an ok actor, fine I am talented. But I am well aware that I don't have the star power of a Salman, Aamir, Ajay Devgan," Ranbir said.
So, setting the record straight on him being pricey, Ranbir said that having seen luxury in life money has been the least of his concerns and if he loves a film he would do it for free. Money is the last of his bothers, as long as he feels for a project the remuneration doesn't matter.
The most eligible bachelor in town Ranbir Kapoor says he hopes to stay like that for a long time.
But the rumour mills are constantly on an overdrive about Ranbir's Harem.
"Ha Harem! The only harem I have is with my directors," he said.
Talking about cousin Kareena Kapoor's film Heroine Ranbir said, "Yes, it's looking good and she is a great actress and since it's from the same producer, I hope we cousins rock the box office."
Well Ranbir, your wish would always be your fans command.
