A still from Hercules featuring Dwayne Johnson
WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he will be seen as one of the lead characters in DC comic's upcoming movie, Shazam. But the 42-year-old is yet to decide whether he wants to play the titular character or his arch-nemesis Black Adam, reported Contactmusic. "I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role," Johnson said.
Both characters have magical powers, with the orphaned boy Shazam possessing the ability to morph into an adult superhero simply by saying his own name.
Black Adam is a warrior who clashes with the titular hero in his quest to acquire world power. Dwayne had revealed previously that he had met Warner Bros to discuss a role in a DC comics based movie at a Twitter Q&A session held in January. "We just had a big meeting with Warner Bros CEO regarding @DCComics 2014 we will partner up and create the cool bad assery. RockTalk (sic)," he had tweeted.
The star was last seen playing the titular role in the movie Hercules.
