Mumbai: Actress Eesha Narang blames filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for the long delay in the release of Shabri, which she says is the most challenging film of her career.

"Thanks to Ram Gopal Varma (the film's producer) and Adlabs, Shabri has not been released yet. The film is ready since last four-five years but producers are not ready to release it. There were clashes between the director and producers... both egoistic and financial," Eesha told PTI.

"I had tried to mediate between them. But RGV is not doing anything in the matter. He is involved...concerned more about his own films, some of which do well and some don't," she said.

The actress had shot to fame in 2002 with the item number Khallas in Varma's Company, which also earned her the nickname of Khallas girl and the most exciting new face award at the Stardust Awards.

Shabri is about a woman, played by Eesha, who becomes the first female crime lord in Mumbai. The film is directed by debutant Lalit Marathe and also stars Manish Wadhwa, Pradeep Rawat and Zakir Hussain.

"I feel bad for Lalit (Marathe), who is a debutant, as because of this film his work is struck since over four years," the actress said, adding, "Guys from the Rome Film Festival approached Ram Gopal Varma for the film, he should have sent them to the director."

"From my end I am trying to rope in producers and distributors and would ensure that the film releases by October or latest by November," she said.

On her role in the film, Eesha said, "I play a woman who runs a crime racket from a Mumbai chawl. In accordance with the character, I have sported a non-glamorised look in the film and even speak foul language."

"On one occasion, my production controller refused to get me in on set, as he couldn't recognise me," the 33-year-old actress recalled.

"It is very nicely made film. It is about a woman gangster. This is my best and challenging role ever. I am sure people would also love it," she added.
