London:
He is the face of gay rights movements across the world but singer Elton John has come under fire for performing at the wedding of right wing US broadcaster Rush Limbaugh for a reported sum of US$ 1 million.
Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriages and an alleged homophobe, but recently released pictures show the Grammy Winning hitmaker all smiles while posing with him, reported Daily Mail online.
The 59-year-old Limbaugh tied the knot for the fourth time with 33-year-old Kathryn in April and Elton was the guest of honour.
The Grammy winning singer's decision caused much outrage among the gay community with Elton accused of "selling out" and accepting "tainted money" across the blogosphere.
Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriages, such as Elton's to David Furnish.
The radio host is one of the most maligned figures in American media and is hated by the liberal left wing.
Just last year Limbaugh compared the swine flu virus to AIDS in Africa, saying they were both a "hyped disease".
"Everything in Africa's called AIDS. The reason is that they get aid money for it. AIDS is the biggest pile of the biggest pot they throw money into," he had said in an October interview.
He previously caused outrage in 2007 when he claimed AIDS was not a problem for the heterosexual community and was being caused by homosexuality.
Elton has been associated with AIDS charities since the deaths of his friends Ryan White and Freddie Mercury, raising large amounts of money and using his public profile to raise awareness of the disease.
The singer founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992 as a charity to fund programmes for HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness.
