Elton John would give up knighthood for Oscar
London: British singer Sir Elton John has said he would give up his knighthood for his Academy Award.

The performing legend has won many accolades throughout his career, including the Best Original Song Oscar in 1994 for Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King and he says the award means so much to the singer, he'd rather relinquish his 'Sir' title which was bestowed upon him by British royal Queen Elizabeth II in 1998 than give up the golden statuette, reports contactmusic.com.

Asked which award he would keep, Sir Elton replied: "Probably the Oscar. The thing with an Oscar... normally you get an award and they don't weigh anything. The Oscar actually feels like something."

"The odds of me getting an Oscar when I was growing up as a musician - I wouldn't even have thought about films and music, so that was an exciting award to get," he added.
