The much-awaited trailer of Emergency was released on Monday and instantly found a spot on the list of trends. The film features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role as India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Kangana Ranaut has shared the trailer on Instagram and wrote, "1975 , Emergency — A Defining chapter in Indian History. Indira: India's most powerful woman. Her ambition transformed the nation, but her #EMERGENCY plunged it into chaos."
Set in 1975, the trailer showcases the chaos of the Emergency era. The film delves deeply into the political climate of the time, featuring young Atal Bihari Vajpayee's powerful speeches (Shreyas Talpade) and Jayaprakash Narayan's ferocious pushback (Anupam Kher). Characters like Jagjivan Ram (the late Satish Kaushik), Pupul Jayakar (Mahima Chaudhary) and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (Milind Soman) also play a major role in this gripping political tale.

Directed and headlined by Kangana Ranaut, Emergency features an impressive supporting cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.
The film is produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti. It is slated to release on January 17.
