Hulu's
The Handmaid's Tale emerged the big winner at the 69th Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles on September 2017.
The Handmaid's Tale won the coveted Outstanding Drama series awards and four others including an Outstanding Actress win for Elisabeth Moss. Actress Ann Dowd also won the best Supporting Emmy while the show's director Reed Morano was also hounoured at the award show.
Big Little Lies fell short of one award to match the success of
The Handmaid's Tale. Nicole Kidman took home Outstanding Actress prize and her co-stars Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgard also won big.
Veep took home two top awards - Outstanding comedy series and Outstanding Actress (comedy) for Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
It was big night for
Saturday Night Live too, which won three awards - one more than
Veep and
Atlanta. Kate McKinnon and
Alec Baldwin won best Supporting Actress and Actor awards for their portrayal of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on the show. The show's cast was, the audience in the auditorium and for those watching live, it was one helluva moment when former White House secretary Sean Spicer gatecrashed host Stephen Cobert's speech and
his comment on POTUS' inauguration crowd size statement.
