It was Ted Lasso's night at the Emmys 2022, held in Los Angeles last night (early this morning for India). The show won Best Comedy Series for the second year running, beating The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Only Murders In The Building and other nominees. Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis won Best Actor (Comedy) - also for the second year running. His co-star Brett Goldstein won Best Supporting Actor (Comedy) and the show also won Best Director (Comedy) for MJ Delaney. Zendaya and Jean Smart won Best Actress in the Drama and Comedy categories respectively for their work in the shows Euphoria and Hacks. Both repeated their wins from last year's Emmys.
Fan favourite Succession won Best Drama Series while star Matthew Macfadyen won Best Supporting Actor (Drama). The White Lotus won Best Limited or Anthology Series and its star Jennifer Coolidge won Best Supporting Actress (Limited or Anthology Series). Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae won Best Actor (Drama), Michael Keaton won Best Actor (Limited or Anthology Series) for his performance in Dopesick, Amanda Seyfried won Best Actress (Limited or Anthology Series) for her work in The Dropout.
Squid Game and The White Lotus also picked up directing Emmys in their categories. Writing awards went to Succession and The White Lotus.
