It would not be an exaggeration to say that Karan Arjun is one of the most iconic films of Salman Khan's career. It was also Salman's debut collaboration with director Rakesh Roshan. However, the two never worked together again after this timeless film. In an interaction with NDTV, Rakesh Roshan was asked why he never collaborated with Salman again after Karan Arjun. To this, Rakesh Roshan replied, “I did not get a chance. Because after Karan Arjun, I made Koyla. After Koyla, I made Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. After Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, I made Koi... Mil Gaya, then I made Krrish.”

Rakesh Roshan also shared that he does not plan his movies based on casting. He explained that he takes one to two years to create a film, in contrast to today's filmmakers who often make 8 to 10 films in the same period. Rakesh Roshan said, “I do not plan films according to casting. Sometimes a feeling comes that I should make this story and that story, then I make it with the actors. Toh mai koi plan nahi karta hu. Aur mai koi jaldi me bhi nahi hu. Mai aaram se picture banata hu apna time deta hu. [So, I do not make any plans. And I am not in a hurry either. I make my films at a comfortable pace and give them the time they need.]”

The director continued, “Maybe, I am not capable of making more than one film - that also in a year's time or two years' time. I take my own time. Maybe it is a good thing. But, (in) today's time, people are making 10-10 films, 8-8 films. I can not do it because they are very capable. I do not know how they do it.”

In addition to Salman Khan, Karan Arjun features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, and Rakhee in pivotal roles. During the same conversation, Rakesh Roshan also shared how he cast Kajol for the project. The director recalled, “Kajol was Shah Rukh's suggestion. I asked Shah Rukh, ‘You are working with her in Baazigar. How is she?' And he said, ‘She is very very good.' So then, I went to Kajol and I signed her.”

Karan Arjun will be re-released in cinemas on November 22. Originally released in 1995, the film tells the story of two brothers who are murdered by their greedy uncle. Reincarnated, they return to fulfil their mission of vengeance.
