Mumbai:
When the sequel of the 1990 film Aashiqui was announced, it was assumed that B-Town would be queuing up to be cast in the film.
However, director Mohit Suri decided to opt for a nation-wide online hunt for fresh faces to cast as the protagonists. However, disappointed with the results, Mohit Suri decided to rope in Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor for the sequel.
Interestingly, Mohit Suri points out that despite being 'failed actors', the two suited best for his film.
He said, "I chose Aditya and Shraddha, both failed actors. Their films may not have worked at the box office, but they are best suited for my film."
Repeat act
One of the most endearing scenes in Aashiqui (1990) had Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal under a big overcoat which was also used on the film's posters. Shagufta Rafique, the writer of the sequel, states the same scene will be recreated and will also appear on the film's posters.
