Mumbai:
It has finally happened. What Rakeysh Mehra failed to do in Delhi 6, Anees Bazmee is almost set to manage. Bazmee is planning to cast Anil and his daughter Sonam Kapoor together in a film.
According to sources, Bazmee has his heart set on an emotional father-daughter drama. He has been working on a script for two years. The problem, though has been to find a way to make the plot exciting and free of the clich associated with dramas.
When contacted, Bazmee was surprised to hear we had caught wind of the news. "I wanted to surprise Anil and Sonam with this script. How did you know about it? "I've been doing an unbroken chain of comedies and I want to explore the other, more sober side," he says.
He says he was inspired to write the script after seeing the bond between Sonam and her father. "I've been Anil's close family friend for decades. And every time I see the two together, I feel such warmth. I have always wondered how their bond will reflect on screen."
According to Bazmee, the film will recreate the charm of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Anupama. "I haven't seen a good father-daughter film since Anupama. Even today I recall how the late Tarun Bose and Sharmila Tagore played the roles. I want to recreate that magic with Anil and Sonam Kapoor."
