New Delhi:
Filmmaker Farah Khan doesn't very often lose her cool, though she is known for her plain speaking, so a tweet she posted last week about 'mannerless' people who think a WhatsApp message is invite is enough for her to show up for events has made headlines. An annoyed Farah wrote, "Dear Mannerless people, if you want me to attend your premiere/preview/party DON'T send me a "janta invite" on WhatsApp! You are not doing me a favour! The least you can do is make a personal call. If you can't find the time for it what makes you think I have time to get ready and come for you."
Farah named no names but Twitter set to work instantly guessing whom she could have meant. The two films that released last Friday were Kapil Sharma's Firangi and Sunny Leone's Tera Intezaar - the Internet decided on Kapil Sharma.
There was a certain amount of trolling as well:
Kapil Sharma, adored by many for his comedic work on TV, hosted a special screening of Firangi for Bollywood celebrities last week but Farah Khan told SpotboyE that she wasn't singling him out. "It was not just Kapil Sharma. There were two to three other events happening on the same day. I was referring to all of them," Farah said.
It was also reported that Kapil Sharma had invited several Bollywood stars, many of whom have appeared on his shows (Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show), but that nobody showed up and the actor ended up watching the film with Himesh Reshammiya, Palak Muchhal, Abbas-Mustan, Ravi Dubey and Nora Fatehi.
Perhaps it wasn't just the discourtesy of janta invite by WhatsApp that was to blame for the reported no-shows. Kapil Sharma has been dogged by controversy ever since he infamously assaulted co-star Sunil Grover on a flight earlier this year, resulting is much of the cast quitting The Kapil Sharma Show which is currently off air. There have also been several instances where stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn have been kept waiting on his sets, only to leave without filming the episode of Kapil Sharma's non-appearance. He also failed to report to the sets of Akshay Kumar's The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.
Kapil Sharma has pleaded ill-health for his absences and Firangi was meant to be a saving grace - it opened last Friday to overwhelmingly bad reviews and there's no official information on how the film is performing at the box office.

Bechara can't get a thing right these days.
There was a certain amount of trolling as well:
