Chennai: Expressing shock over the 'unilateraldecision' of an employees body on pay scale revision, TamilFilm Producers Council today announced suspending shooting onJanuary 23 for an emergency general council meet to discussthe issue.
While pay revision was decided once in three years afterconsultations between TFPC and Film Employees' Federation ofSouth India (FEFSI), the latter had gone ahead with announcinga 'unilateral' scale this time, insisting the new structureshould come into effect immediatly.
The talks had not concluded in the wake of theconstitution of new members to TFPC, it said in a release hereadding FEFSI had in the meantime announced a wage structure.
"This is shocking as it seems to question the democraticfunctioning in this matter. The two (associations) discuss andjointly decide the wage-scale once in three years. This is aunilateral decision (by FEFSI)".
To discuss this matter, an emergency meeting of TFPCgeneral council will be held on January 23. All shooting willbe suspended to enable all members participate, the releaseadded.
