Kundan Shah's friend and colleague Satish Shah, who played one of the principal characters in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, told news agency PTI, "I just got to know about Shah's demise. I have reached his house. It is really sad."
In 1993, 10 years after his debut, Kundan Shah directed Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. The cast included Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Deepak Tijori and Ashutosh Gowariker and the film won several awards.
Kundan Shah's other film credits include Kya Kehna, starring Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan and Chandrachur Singh, Hum To Mohabbat Karega and Dil Hai Tumhara.
