FIR filed against former actress Asha Parekh for forgery

FIR filed against former actress Asha Parekh for forgery
Mumbai: Former actress Asha Parekh and producer Sunil Shanbag have been booked on charges of forgery and criminal breach of trust, following a complaint made by an art director against the duo.

The FIR was registered after a local court ordered Tardeo Police to probe allegations of forgery and criminal breach of trust against Parekh and Shanbag.

Hearing a private complaint filed by Art Director Krishna Singh, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shaida Razvi observed, "taking into consideration serious allegations against the accused it needs a detailed investigation".

A senior officer of Tardeo police station said, "We are investigating into the matter and will file a report before
the court".

According to the complainant, for some months since 2002 she was in employment of Ajit Patnaik who ran a firm 'Designworks'. Singh complained that she was not paid salary for 15 months amounting to Rs 2.05 lakhs.

Singh said she then came in contact with Parekh and Shanbag who produced television serials. She worked with them on some assignments for which she was to get Rs 87,000 and Rs 14,000 from Parekh and Shanbag respectively.

Singh had then moved a labour court alleging that she was not paid salary by Patnaik. During the pendency of her complaint, Patnaik forged documents on the letter heads of Asha Parekh and Sunil Shanbag to show that money had been paid to her, Singh alleged.

Singh further alleged in May 2005, Parekh had called her asking her to go back to her native place saying that the film industry was not for women. She then filed a private complaint in a Court that ordered investigation.

Parekh was not available for comment.
