Fmr Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao bags Best Actor award

Mumbai: Veteran Telugu film personalityand former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao was adjudged thebest actor for 2009 in annual Nandi film awards announced byAndhra Pradesh government.

Narayana Rao, who directed about 150 films in a careerspanning several decades, got the best actor award for hisperformance in the film Mestry.

He had served as Union Minister of State for Mines in theprevious term of the UPA government.

Sontha Ooru directed by P Suneel Kumar Reddy wasadjudged as the first best feature film, while Baanam andKalavara Maye Madilo were the second and third best featurefilms respectively.

Best leading actress award was given to Teerdha for herperformance in the film Sontha Ooru.

S S Raja Mouli has been declared the best director forhis blockbuster movie Magadheera starring Chiranjeevi's sonand young hero Ram Charan who also bagged one of the specialjury awards for his role of a warrior in Magadheera.

The film bagged several awards including Best PopularFeature Film providing wholesome entertainment, Best ArtDirector award for R Ravinder, Best Choreographer for SivaSankar, Best Editor for Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.

M M Keeravani, who has given music to Bollywood filmslike Jism, Criminal and Sur, bagged the Best MusicDirector award for the devotional film Vengamamba.

Renowned playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam got theBest Male playback singer award for his song in the filmMahatma while Chitra got the Best Female playback singeraward for the movie Kalavara Maye Madilo.

N Taraka Ratna, a grandson of legendary N T Rama Rao, gotthe Best Villain award for his performance in the filmAmaravati.

Leading Telugu hero Srikant got a Special Jury award forhis performance in the film Mahatma.
