New Delhi: Actor Tusshar Kapoor's announcement that he is now the single father of a son born via In Vitro Fertilization or IVF and surrogacy has earned him the praise and good wishes of his colleagues.

On Monday, the 39-year-old actor revealed that his son had been born last week and had been named Laksshya.

Tweets celebrating both the new arrival and Tusshar's courage followed soon after.

Congratulatory messages were sent by filmmakers Karan Johar and Farah Khan, and actor Abhishek Bachchan. Tusshar's Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum co-star Riteish Deshmukh, who welcomed his second child earlier this month, sent the newborn blessings.

"By the greatness of god and the excellent medical team at Jaslok (hospital), parenthood is an option for many, who choose to be single parents," Tusshar added.

Tusshar Kapoor, son of veteran actor Jeetendra, made his debut in Bollywood with 2001 film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai. Now 39, Tusshar has starred in films like Kucch To Hai, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Golmaal 3 and Shootout at Wadala. He was last seen in Mastizaade.
