New Delhi: After creating a niche for himself with films like Monsoon Wedding and Khosla KaGhosla, actor Parvin Dabas is turning director with action comedy Sahi Dhande Galat Bande, which he says was completely unplanned.
Last seen in a small role in My Name is Khan, Parvin decided to write, star, direct and produce the movie under his newly launched production banner Very Fishy Films. The movie hits theatres on August 19.
"It was a completely unplanned decision to turn director. I was working for My Name is Khan in 2009, when I got this idea, which turned out into a script. I became so involved with my script that I have turned down many film offers to complete it. There is nothing like making a realistic cinema or commercial cinema, I just want to entertain my audience with a strong message attached to my plot," he said.
With the film, the 37-year old Dabas is also making a comeback as an actor after a span of five years.
"I just wanted to concentrate on writing and I knew my characters so well that I thought why not act in it. It was not at all difficult to don both the hats of an actor as well as director because I finished one part and then jumped into another," he said.
