New Delhi:

Ponniyin Selvan 2 has finally hit the theatres. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Shobita Dhulipala, and Kaithi in key roles. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. The first part, which was released in September last year, narrated the early life of Chola prince Arunmozhi Varman (played by Jayam Ravi). It was much-loved by fans and critics alike. Now, finally, the wait is over. As Trisha  said, “PS2 is where the story begins.” Well, as we gear up to watch the latest offering by Mani Ratnam, we think it's the best occasion to revisit some of the works of the National award-winning director.

Here is the list:

1.Bombay - Voot

Is there a better way to start the list? We think not. This cult classic, which was released in 1995, has a fanbase of its own. Bombay featured  Arvind Swami, Manisha Koirala and Nassar. The story revolves around a couple whose life turns upside down when growing religious tensions and communal riots threaten to tear their family apart.

2.Roja - Amazon Prime Video

Be it the dialogues or Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman's music, this 1992 release ticked all the boxes. Arvind Swamy and Madhoo's impeccable chemistry makes it a must-watch.

3.Thalapathi - Amazon Prime Video

When Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam collaborate, the end result has to be a complete blockbuster. The film also starred Mammootty, Shobana and Arvind Swamy.

4. Iruvar - Aha

The film, released in 1997, featured an ensemble star cast of Prakash Raj, Mohanlal, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Tabu, Revathy and Nassar. Iruvar was about the relationship between cinema and politics in Tamil Nadu. The film also marked Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya's first collaboration.

5.Dil Se… Netflix

A list of Mani Ratnam films will be incomplete without this one. From Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora's Chaiya Chaiya to the dialogues, Dil Se… was a gift to all cine lovers. Don't you agree? Manisha Koirala, Preity Zinta, and Zohra Sehgal were part of the film.

So what are you waiting for? Quickly pick a film of your choice and enjoy the weekend. Happy binge-watching.
