Singer Gary Barlow will receive anOrder of British Empire from Queen Elizabeth in recognition ofhis musical efforts for the monarch's Diamond Jubileecelebrations.
The 41-year-old Take That star is said to have beensurprised by the news that the Queen wants to bestow the orderof chivalry on him, reported Sun online.
"The Queen was delighted with Gary Barlow's brilliant workand dedication. She made it clear he should be rewarded at thefirst available opportunity. Mr Barlow was told of HerMajesty's offer a few weeks ago. He was quite surprised, buthe has accepted it," a source said.
Barlow had spent over a year organising a star-studdedconcert at Buckingham Palace as part of the jubileecelebrations, with performers including Stevie Wonder, PaulMcCartney, Robbie Williams and Shirley Bassey.
He also toured the commonwealth to record Sing, a trackhe co-wrote with Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber to mark theoccasion.
The singer's OBE is expected to be officially announcednext weekend with the release of the queen's birthday honourslist.
