Award-winning Indian film Gattu has been selected to be screened at the 2nd Beijing International Film festival.
Gattu, directed by Rajan Khosa and produced by the Children's Film Society of India, is the lone Indian movie inthe retrospective section of the festival which will showcase about 260 movies.
The film features the obsession of a boy from small town to fly kites. It has already won the Special Mention Award atBerlin Film Festival and Indian Film Festival at Los Angeles.
China is closed to foreign films. Only few dozen foreign films are permitted for screening annually though some of thewell acclaimed Indian films have been released there.
Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots, which was translated into Chinese, was a big hit all over the country.
The country is slowly opening up to India on the cultural front. Several of the popular Indian serials slowly made theirway to television screens.
