New Delhi:
Thursday brought a lot of heartache and anger amongst the most ardent Coldplay fans. Early bird tickets priced at Rs. 5,000 and 7,500 went for sale online at noon and the cheapest tickets were sold out within 20 seconds. Expectedly, Twitter had a lot to say.
But, don't lose hope just yet. There's still one way to see your favourite band live, and that too, absolutely free of cost. Global Citizen India will be giving out 10,000 free tickets for the festival, starting next week.
Recall the Action Journey that the organisers have been promoting in relation to the causes supported by the show? Yes, that's all you have to do. Be a part of social change, earn a minimum of 16 points and the participant will be eligible for a lucky draw, the first of which will be open from September 18 to 22 on the official website of the festival.
As per a statement released by Global Citizen, the users of the app will see a red button appear on their accounts the moment they cross the minimum number of points for eligibility. They then have the option to trade-in those points for a chance to win two tickets.
Thankfully, this is just the first run of the draw and a total of 10,000 tickets will be given out in the four draws through the next few weeks. Winners for the first draw will be announced on Thursday, September 22.
Global Citizen is a social action platform for individuals who want to facilitate change and social reform. The first ever Global Citizen Festival to be held in Mumbai on November 19, is a part of this initiative, and the way to acquire tickets also reflects this approach. Eighty percent of the tickets to the festival will be given out to Global Citizens who earn them by taking action.
Major names scheduled to appear at the festival include Jay Z, Aamir Khan, A.R. Rahman, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Arijit Singh, Dia Mirza, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, and Monali Thakur. Several major artists and international guests will be announced at different stages of the campaign.
