Gear Up, Sherlock Season 4 Has A Premiere Date And Twitter Can't Deal
Benedict Cumberbatch in a still Sherlock
New Delhi: It's a big day for fans of BBC's beloved crime drama series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character. After three years, the wait is over. The premiere date for the new season, season 4, is finally out. The first episode called 'The Six Thatchers' will arrive on television on New Year's Day, January 1, 2017, according to the official handle of the show.

Based on the popular stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (this one taking cue from The Lying Detective and The Six Napoleons amongst other) Sherlock is a contemporary adaptation of his characters - the main high-functioning sleuth and his sidekick, Dr. John Watson, played by Martin Freeman. Even though the first teaser of the show's new season came out in July, this latest one gave us that one piece of new information that obviously sent fans into a frenzy - the premiere date, which turned out to be earlier than anticipated.

As soon as the teaser was telecast after The Great British Bake Off finale, it was time to gear up because Twitter was going insane.

There was no end to the gifs:

We all held our breath:

Of course, there are always some non-fans with an opinion:

Possibly the last Sherlock season for a long time, the Emmy-award winning show has Toby Jones joining the cast as villain. Agreeably, we're very excited for the first day of 2017.
