Popstar George Michael has beenreleased from prison after serving half of an eight-weeksentence for crashing his car while under the influence ofcannabis.
The Careless Whispers hitmaker was arrested in Julyafter being found slumped at the wheel of his Land Rover inHampstead, north London, reported BBC online.
The 47-year-old was sentenced to a prison stint onSeptember 14 and while serving his time in jail he had issueda statement saying that he had received "no special treatmentof any kind".
The openly gay singer had dismissed reports ofbullying by fellow inmates and said he had been treated withkindness by everyone, from prison staff to the prisoners.
The star, who had a previous conviction for a similaroffence, was told there was no option apart from a custodialsentence when he appeared at Highbury Magistrates Court.Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, wasalso fined $2000 and banned from driving for five years.
Police found Michael at his wheel after he crashedinto the Hampstead branch of photographic store Snappy Snaps.Michael admitted driving while unfit through drugs andpossessing two cannabis cigarettes.
