Get ready for action, thrill, comedy this Friday

Get ready for action, thrill, comedy this Friday
New Delhi: Movie buffs will have a platter full of action, drama and thrills with the films Force, Hum Tum Shabana and Tere Mere Phere hitting the screens Friday.

Force will see John Abraham packing a punch as a cop while Tusshar Kapoor-Shreyas Talpade jodi and Vinay Pathak are set to take people on a laugh riot with "Hum Tum Shabana" and "Tere Mere Phere" respectively.

And if that is not enough, Tigmanshu Dhulia's thriller Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, with Randeep Hooda, Jimmy Shergill and Mahie Gill in prominent roles, will add variety to the palette.

John has tried to prove his versatility as an actor by doing different roles in his eight-year- long career and has been successful in his attempts. With director Nishikanth Kamath's Force, the actor is trying to get into hardcore action genre.

John has performed stunts without the protective cables for his role - he not only lifts a bike of 150 kg but also jumps from 150 ft height on an air bag without using any cables. He took special training for his role.

"I had not attempted any action film after Dhoom; so my audience, my fans were a little disappointed with me because I was not doing any action films. Quite a few people pointed out to me on many occasions: 'You have the physique, you have the strength, then why don't you attempt a hard core action film?' So I thought I should go for it," said John.

"And after this film I think people will find me in the action hero slot and find John Abraham as an action hero," said John, who is said to have suffered 282 bruises, seven broken bones and innumerable scratches during the shoot.

And Genelia D'Souza as his lady love will add glamour in the actioner.

On the other hand Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster is about betrayal, says director Dhulia. Inspired by the principal characters of Guru Dutt's 1962 classic Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, the film takes a contemporary look at how the characters would behave in this era.

"Someone has said if you have not experienced the ecstasy of betrayal, you have not experienced ecstasy at all," said Dhulia clarifying that his project "is not a remake of Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam."

"In the film, for Sahib, betrayal is something else because he has feudal values; for Biwi, who is yearning for her husband's attention, betrayal is short as she thinks she can get away with it. But hell breaks loose when she fails to come out of it. The gangster is the most naive character in the film as he falls for Biwi's charm," he added.

The film also features some bold scenes.

For those not interested in action or thriller, two comedies -- Tere Mere Phere and Hum Tum Shabana -- can be their weekend getaway.

Tere Mere Phere is actress Deepa Sahi's directorial debut. It is a light-hearted and funny take on marriage trivia, which has Vinay Pathak and Riya Sen in pivotal roles along with debutants Jagrat Desai and Sasha Goradia.

Deepa is best known for her role in Maya Memsaab, an adaptation of Flaubert's Madame Bovary, where she falls in love with a young man, played by Shah Rukh Khan.

"Having grown up in a family with at least 35 women of different ages and their spouses, friends, sons, daughters, in-laws, I've been a keen observer of this most fascinating of all relationships... that between a man and a woman," said Deepa.

"Marriage is something that legitimises this relationship between them. But having married, how legit are the workings between them? Tere Mere Phere is a light-hearted look at this intriguing phenomenon," she added.

Director Sagar Bellary's Hum Tum Shabana is yet another rom-com revolving around Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor and Minissha Lamba, in which the two actors try their best to get Minissha, the girl of their dreams. The film is filled with emotion, drama, action and of course comedy.
