GGMCH not cashing on success of Anna's movement: Shriya Saran

Mumbai: South actress Shriya Saran's, whoseforthcoming Bollywood film Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai, is basedon the menace of corruption, says the movie is not anywaycashing on the popularity of anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare.

"We are not cashing on the movement. Everyone isappreciating what Anna Hazare is doing. Even I respect him forwhat he has done and how is not sitting and blaming anyone butchanging the system. We are not targeting anything. Our moviehas a strong message," Shriya told PTI in an interview.

"The fact is that Rumy Jafry (director) was working onthis movie for quite some time. Its just that Anna's movementstarted around the same time. It is not that we made the filmbecause of the movement.. we made the film as we loved thefilm and believed in it," she said.

The actress will seen after a three-year break, in theHindi movie, a political satire about a common man's fightagainst corruption. The film also starring Mugdha Godse andAkshaye Khanna, hits screens on Februry 3.

Shriya plays a teacher, who is Akshaye's wife. "When I first heard the story, I enjoyed listening to itbecause of the incidents and how the story is told. It made methink that if the story leaves me with something to dwell on,then audiences will also have something to think upon. I wentwith my gut feeling for the film," she said.

"We just felt that a film like this will be appreciatedin todays scenario. She teaches kids from the slums. She doesnot expect big things from life, just some happiness. Shestands up for her husband and understands what he is goingthrough," she said.
