Actor Kunal Khemu, who will benext seen in the zombie comedy Go Goa Gone, says the filmwas once in a lifetime experience for him due to its unusualtheme.
The film has Kunal, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari playingthree friends who go from Mumbai to Goa in search of fun andadventure. The film is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DKof Shor In The City fame.
"Each day on the sets was new. There was a lot of foreigncrew involved in action and prosthetic make up. It was scaryseeing the make up being done but it was fun as well. The filmhas been a joyride and once in a lifetime experience," Kunaltold PTI.
The 29-year-old actor said he was involved in the projectfrom day one with the directors, who had set out to make anaction comedy initially.
"Go Goa Gone is the most interesting journey that I setout on with the directors Raj and DK. About three years ago westarted writing an action comedy together. Then one day wethought how would it be if we removed the criminals in thisfilm and replaced it with zombies? We started working on thatand broke down the original script," said Kunal.
The actor said they were worried about getting a producerfor this film but luckily Saif Ali Khan showed interest anddecided to take the film under his banner Illuminati films.
"We didn't know how to pitch it to people. Many don'tknow what zombies are. We didn't know if anyone would beinterested in making a film like that. Luckily the rightproducers have come on board.
"My directors approached Saif. He had seen our earlierfilm '99' and liked it. They met him to discuss the projectand Saif showed interest. He has a special appearance in thefilm, it is a very interesting role."
Kunal said they have made the film keeping in mind thatthe concept of zombies is new in India.
"Showing zombies in a Hindi set up is the most excitingbit about this film. We have made it keeping in mind thatpeople don't know what zombies are, so we are telling them astory which will make them understand, scare them as well asmake them laugh. We are calling it a zom-com, just likeromantic comedies are called rom-coms."
In spite of a slightly alien concept, Kunal said the filmhas all the traits of a commercial Bollywood movie.
"It has all the traits of a commercial film. There aresongs but not many lip-sync ones. The film has a veryinteresting soundtrack. Sachin-Jigar are doing the music."
Go Goa Gone is slated to be released early next year.After wrapping up its shoot, Kunal will begin working on theaction film he has signed with director Vikram Bhatt.
"I am waiting to finish Go Goa Gone so that I can sitwith Vikram and discuss my character's look in the film. I'malso in discussion about a project with Vishesh films, butthey are still in the process of scripting."
Kunal, who has been dating actress Soha Ali Khan foralmost three years now and starred with her in '99', said theyare ready to work together provided the right script comestheir way.
"Whenever an interesting film comes our way we willsurely work together. If I like a script individually and shedoes too, then we'll definitely work together," he said.
