Google's latest Doodle celebrates the birth anniversary of actor-director--producer Raj Kapoor who would have been 90 today.
The technicolour Doodle features the late Bollywood great in his character of Raju the tramp that Mr Kapoor modelled on the lines of Charlie Chaplin's cinematic blueprint, and made famous in movies like Awaara and Shree 420.
The Doodle, executed in the style of old-fashioned hand-painted film posters, also features an iconic silhouette from Shree 420, that of Raj Kapoor and co-star Nargis under the umbrella.
Raj Kapoor, second generation of Bollywood's leading dynasty, died in 1988 leaving behind a rich celluloid legacy that included films he directed, like Bobby. He was the elder brother of actors Shammi and Shashi Kapoor, and the father of Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv, all three of who had varying degrees of success in Bollywood. His grandchildren - Karisma, Kareena, Ranbir and Armaan - are also actors.
