Longtime Grammy awards executive producer John Cossette has died at the age of 54.
Cossette, the son of Grammy telecast founding producer Pierre Cossette, worked on music's most illustrious ceremony for more than 20 years and was in charge of this year's broadcast, reported BBC.
His death was confirmed in a statement by his wife Rita.
"We are deeply saddened to report that John Cossette,54, has passed away. We ask that you please respect ourprivacy during this incredibly emotional time. We appreciateeveryone's love and support, and further details regardingfuneral arrangements will be forthcoming in the next fewdays," the statement read.
Cossette also helmed the Latin Grammys, the Bet Awardsand the Bet Hip Hop Awards, and worked on the Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet, about the 1956 meeting of ElvisPresley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mariaand Rose.
