The show deals with a sensitive social issue and the plight of new brides in Punjab who are left behind by their NRI husbands.
Mumbai:
The title of the TV show Gurbani has been changed to Baani - Ishq Ka Kalma and the series is set to showcase the plight of new brides in Punjab who are left behind by their NRI husbands.
The show went on air on Monday.
"Through this show we aim to enlighten people, to create an awareness that getting married to an NRI doesn't necessarily guarantee a happy marriage, a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle," said Prashant Bhatt, programming head of the channel, in an interview.
The show sees Navni Parihar making a comeback to TV after four years. She was seen in films like Tanu Weds Manu and Page 3.
Singer Harshdeep Kaur will play a musical narrator of the story in the show.
The title of the show was changed after the objections from the organisations like Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee and Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib.
