The Sherlock Holmes helmer is likely to direct Xerxes from a script by Zack Snyder, who is not taking up the directorial responsibility this time, Acehowbiz reported.
Warner Bros has reportedly offered the helming position to Ritchie who is currently putting finishing touchto Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
The studio reportedly wants Snyder to focus on The Man of Steel script.
Xerxes is based on Frank Miller's graphic novels. The story will revolve around Themistocles and the Battle of Artemisium, which coincidentally happens on the exact same three days as the Battle of Thermopylae.
