Manoj Bajpayee in a still from Aligargh
Mumbai:
Director Hansal Mehta has finished shooting his much-awaited film Aligarh. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. It is loosely based on the real-life incident of a professor who was terminated from his job because of his sexual orientation.
"When you are in the middle of a tough shooting schedule, you do wait anxiously for the film to be complete but when you say 'cut' for the last time, you feel so empty inside. Aligarh has been a very special experience for all of us and we will cherish the process forever," Mr Mehta said in a statement. (First Look: Manoj Bajpayee in Aligarh)
The shooting started in January 2015 in Bareilly and after a two-month long schedule it culminated in Mumbai last week.
This is Rajkummar's third film with Mr Mehta after Shahid and CityLights.
The film is scheduled to release later this year.
