Hard Kaur was amused with her debut acting offer in Patiala House

Mumbai: Rapper Hard Kaur, who broke outlaughing when film director NikhilAdvani approached her for a role in Patiala House that would be her debut as an actress, says shejumbled up her dialogues and had tough time remembering them.

"When Nikhil called me and told that he is offering arole to me in his film...I was laughing like hell and askedhim several times if he was sure about me acting in the film.I had to give screen test and I was nervous because I canremember lyrics but not dialogues," Kaur told PTI.

"Nikhil believed that I could do justice to thecharacter and I am thankful to him," she said.

The singer-turned-actress will sport a de-glam look inthe movie contrary to her hip-hop style.

"I play the role of Komal, who is Akshay's cousin. Sheis a very simple girl wearing salwar-kameez and 'lambi choti'.In the film I want to be a rapper but I am afraid of what willhappen if Rishiji comes to know about it. Without hisknowledge, I try to fulfill my desires," she said.

I was able to connect with my role for a couple ofreasons because as a Punjabi girl, when I was small myrelatives used to tell that girls of the family should notsing, dance and all.., Kaur said.

The 31-year-old, who had earlier participated in TV dancereality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, had received a couple offilm offers did not intend to do stereotypical roles.

"I had few offers but I never liked it. I believe intrying different things but do a good job. I don't look myselfas a glamour queen...I am not slim and tall. I don't think sopeople will see me in a typical actress kind of a role," theGlassy hitmaker said.

The film revolves around a large Punjabi family inEngland and talks about a young man's difficulties in choosingwhat he wants to do in the face of his family's opposition.

Patiala House starring Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma,Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia among others releases onFebruary 4.
