New Delhi:
This is a picture of Katrina Kaif closing Manish Malhotra's show at Delhi Couture Week. She looks pretty - and pretty happy, we'd have to say.
But just a day later, Katrina failed to show for an interview and interaction with fans. Her Ek Tha Tiger co-star Salman Khan arrived, but Katrina didn't.
Ostensibly, she was unwell. Salman said, "Katrina Kaif is not here with me because she has fallen ill. She is not running away from me."
So Tiger says. But was it really a cold that kept Katrina away from promoting what promises to be one of the biggest films in her career? Or was it the fact that publicity duty so far hasn't really gone too well for the industry's most sought after leading lady?
This is what Salman had to say earlier: "According to me, I dance much better than Katrina. I have been dancing for many years now. I have clearly overshadowed her in the song. People praise her and she is happy with that, but my dancing is very cool."
Katrina certainly didn't look very pleased with Salman's cheeky jokes made at her expense at press conferences.
Ek Tha Tiger is Katrina and Salman's first film together after four and a half years, a film that Salman was reportedly not keen on promoting.
According to sources, Salman had been busy with his home production Dabangg 2 and had kept aside only ten days to promote Ek Tha Tiger..
But Salman later reportedly did decide to promote Ek Tha Tiger, his first film with Yash Raj, on the condition that Katrina would be part of the whole process. Katrina was even given a grace period from her next film, Dhoom: 3, also made by Yash Raj Films. She will join the cast and crew in Chicago to begin filming only after her Ek Tha Tiger duties end.
And let's not forget the rumoured Salman-Kat spat on the sets of Ek Tha Tiger, when a tearful Katrina locked herself into her vanity van after Salman told her off for wearing an outfit he deemed too revealing. Is Katrina Kaif then simply fed up with the Tiger's staking claim to what he sees as his personal territory? Ek Tha Tiger, high on action and romance, is directed by Kabir Khan and releases tomorrow, on Independence Day. Multiplexes have decided to cash in on the festive atmosphere, with Eid coming up on Monday, by hiking ticket price by 12 to 16 per cent.
