The Bombay High Court today stayedthe release of Knock Out, the film starring Sanjay Dutt,Irrfan Khan and Kangana Ranaut, over allegations of copyrightviolation.
US-based studio Twentieth Century Fox had moved the HighCourt seeking a stay, alleging that the Hindi film, slated torelease tomorrow, was a scene-to-scene copy of the 2003 hitPhone Booth, which starred Colin Farell and Forest Whitaker.
Justice Roshan Dalvi watched both the films yesterdaybefore passing the stay order.
Both the films revolved around hostage situation wherethe victim is trapped inside a phone booth.
The matter will come up for final hearing in due course,but Sohail Maklai Entertainment Private Limited (SMEPL),producers of Knock Out, are expected to file an appealbefore division bench tomorrow or next week, lawyers said.
