London: Helena Christensen doesn't see herself as a "great beauty".
The 44-year-old supermodel hates being complimented for ageing well because she thinks it's more important to lead an interesting life.
She told The Times magazine: "Why would I suddenly go, 'Oh, gosh, now I'm a year older. Now I'm 35, now I'm 37...' I didn't think about it when I was in my twenties and I'm not thinking about it now.
"For a start, you never see yourself as a great beauty. And you look at yourself every day, so it's not like you suddenly go, 'Oh my God, my beauty is fading!' and hide behind curtains for the rest of your life.
"I mean, my grandmother is 95 and she's super-beautiful and really interesting, and I talk to her every three days for about 45 minutes, and those are often the most interesting conversations I can have for weeks."
The Danish beauty, who shares a son Mingus, 12, with her ex-boyfriend Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead, also revealed her son is starting to disapprove of some of the clothing she wears for work.
She said: "He will look at me in a strange way. But he grew up with me doing this job. We joke, 'Your mum's a model and your dad kills zombies: how's that for parents?'"
Helena hates dieting and exercise but took up boxing so she could eat more.
She said: "Because I love and cherish food. I think it's one of the most beautiful things. I realise how fortunate I am to not have those food issues. If I were overweight, it would be really difficult for me to stick to a diet and actually to lose weight."
