Mumbai:
Actress-politician Hema Malini is not in favour of filmmakers returning their National Awards in protest against instances of growing intolerance in the country.
Filmmakers Dibakar Banerjee and Anand Patwardhan were among the 10 film personalities who have returned their National Awards in solidarity with the FTII students and against growing intolerance in the country.
"It (returning national awards) is not a right thing to do. I feel it is a politically instigated matter. People are dying to get a National Award. It's a national reputation. People come to me saying if I can help them in getting a National Award. And here, these people are returning awards," Hemaji told PTI.
Bollywood celebrities including Anil Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Anupam Kher have also said that returning National Awards is not right.(Also Read: Anupam Kher's Anti-'Award Wapsi Gang' Tweets Leave Twitter Fuming)
When Hemaji was asked whether the FTII row can be resolved or not, she said: "We will talk about it later."
