Hema Malini and Sunny Deol in Mumbai

Hema Malini's biography Beyond The Dream Girl was launched by Deepika Padukone in Mumbai on the occasion of the actresses' 69th birthday. The event was also attended by her daughter Esha and Ahana Deol. However, her actor husband Dharmendra, gave it a miss. Hema Malini is Dharmendra's second wife and they have been married for over 38 years now. Dharmendra never divorced his first wife Prakash Kaur, and has maintained two separate families ever since. They together have four children - Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeeta and Ajeeta. Sunny and Bobby Deol are actors. While both the families are hardly spotted together at family functions and other events, Hema Malini says that her relationship with stepson Sunny Deol is 'beautiful,' reports news agency PTI.
"Everyone wonders what kind of a relationship we (Sunny and I) are having. It is very beautiful and cordial. Whenever it is necessary he (Sunny) is always there, along with Dharamji, especially when this accident happened," she said that the book launch. Hema Malini, also a BJP parliamentarian, had met with a road accident in Rajasthan a couple of years ago. She had reportedly fractured her nose and suffered injuries on her forehead.
"He (Sunny) was the first person to come and see me at home and he saw that the right doctor is there for the stitches that were done on my face. I was really taken aback to see him showing so much interest. That shows what kind of a relationship we are having," Hema Malini added.
Hema Malini's biography is written by journalist Ram Kamal Mukherjee and foreword is written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hema Malini's colleagues such as Ramesh Sippy, Juhi Chawla and Subhash Ghai also attended the launch.
