Celebrations for the festival of lights have kicked off in Bollywood circles and the merry making will continue throughout the week. Invites have been doing the rounds and stars are stepping out in traditional designer wear for the soirees. Last night, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna as well as Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty threw their respective Diwali bashes that had several industry names in attendance.
The biggest Diwali bash is slated to be that of the Bachchans (Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya) who will play host to the creme de la creme of Bollywood tomorrow at their abode, Jalsa, in Juhu. Salman Khan is likely to throw an impromptu bash at his house on the day his film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo releases - November 12. The festive cheer will continue till November 18 when the star's sister Arpita celebrates her first wedding anniversary.
Jeetendra and daughter, Ekta Kapoor are hosting a Diwali party at their bungalow, Krishna, in Juhu tonight. They have invited big names from the film and television world. Like every year, the highlight of the celebrations will be the night-long card parties.
Shahid Kapoor and his wife, Mira Rajput will have private celebrations at their Juhu Tara Road apartment on Wednesday night. This will be their first Diwali after marriage and the couple will be joined by dad Pankaj Kapur along with his wife, Supriya Pathak and their children Sanah Kapur and Ruhaan. Says Sanah, "My Diwali will be divided between my bhabi's house and a celebration with my friends later that night. I will get the chance to wear a saree. I just can't wait for it."
Sharman Joshi is throwing a card party at his Bandra home today with a potluck dinner likely to be attended by family members as well as industry folk. Telly couple Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Bonnerjee are also preparing for a gathering at their Oshiwara home tomorrow and onn the guest list are small and big screen folk.
Choreographer Ganesh Hegde will have a Diwali-cum-birthday bash today and has invited the team of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded', a reality show that he was hosting, to his place. Filmmaker JP Dutta will ring in the festivities with a party hosted by his daughter Nidhi, who is set to make her Bollywood debut. Says Nidhi, "I am having a party this evening. There will be card games and lots of food for the guests. I am decorating the house with diyas and rangoli."
