A still from Hero.
New Delhi:
The trailer of Hero, starring first-timers Suraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, has been released and will likely leave you cold. Co-produced by Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai, the two-and-a-half minute trailer of the Nikhil Advani-directed film is a montage of cliched dialogues and action sequences.
The trailer starts with Sooraj (played by Suraj) declaring his never-ending love for Radha (Athiya): "Mai bhale hi Radha se door ho jau, zindagi bhar ussi se pyaar karunga." Bollywood cliche #1
In the next few seconds we learn that Sooraj has kidnapped Radha, who eventually falls for him. (Remember Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda's Highway?).
Sooraj and Radha are now 'rebels' in 'love', who have to fight against all odds to stay together. Bollywood cliche #2
In the end, Radha takes a leap of faith with Sooraj (almost literally) and when he says, "Chorna mat," she replies, "Kabhie nahi." Bollywood cliche #3
A sequence between Athiya and Tigmanshu Dhulia is almost reminiscent of Aftab Shivdasani and Ameesha Patel's Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai.
To sum up, there is nothing new in Hero except for the lead pair. The first look of the film seemed to be a mash up of various Bollywood films, only with Suraj and Athiya in the lead.
Hero also stars Aditya Pancholi and Sharad Kelkar and is slated to release on September 11.
