Karan Johar's mother Hiroo Johar  celebrates her 78th birthday today. The filmmaker shares a great bond with his mother and often posts updates on her through his social media handles. Dharma Productions celebrated Hiroo Johar's birthday with a picture post. The official Instagram page of the production house shared a beautiful snap of the mother-son duo along with the caption, "Her wisdom, strength and warmth keeps this #Dharma family together! Wishing #HirooJohar ji a very happy birthday!" Karan Johar usually throws a grand party on Hiroo Johar's birthday every year. However, the celebrations have been muted since last year due to the pandemic. Last year, Karan celebrated her birthday at his residence with a handful of friends with an intimate dinner. The guest list included superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri, filmmaker Aditya Chopra, Salman Khan's mother Salma Khan.

Talking about Karan's upcoming movies, he is headlining several projects as a producer. One of the most awaited ones is Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's war drama, Shershaah. He is also bankrolling Liger which has Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in lead roles.

Another interesting project from Karan's production house is the Netflix film Meenakshi Sundareshwar with Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani. Not to forget, Brahmastra, one of Dharma Productions' most eagerly awaited films, which is real-life couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's first movie together.

Karan will make a return as a director with period drama Takht. The film will focus on the relationship between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shukoh. Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor are part of the project. The film is slated for a Christmas release.
