Indore based Katthak dancer RaginiMakkhar and her troupe Naadyog, who had impressed the judgesright from the auditions to the finale with their innovativeconcepts, took home the India's Got Talent 5 trophy.
"I had never expected that we will be able to make itfinally. I was confident about our talent but the victory wasunexpected. I made sure that we keep the rich tradition ofKatthak alive with my innovative concepts. I thank my audienceand husband for believing in me," Ragini told PTI.
The troupe, which comprised of women from various agegroup, has been awarded Rs 50 lakh, a car and the trophy. Theywere handed the winning trophy by guests on the show MadhuriDixit and Juhi Chawla."The money would be spent on making a good dance institutefor poor girls, who want to learn the dance form. Apart fromteaching them dance, I also help them financially andpersonally," Ragini, who is a homemaker by profession, said.
Now that they have won India's Got Talent, Ragini alsowants to choreograph for Bollywood."I haven't watched any film in these 11 years. I was somuch dedicated to my institute. If given a chance I would liketo choreograph a Katthak piece for Karan (Johar) sir's film. Iam a fan of his creativity," she added. .
The fifth season of the show was judged by Kirron Kher,Malaika Arora Khan and Karan Johar.
