New Delhi: Musician Yo Yo Honey Singh has recently reappeared after having been mysteriously missing from showbiz for some months, despite delivering hits like Chaar Botal Vodka and Ata Majhi Satakli last year. It now appears that he may have quietly checked into a Chandigarh drug rehab centre.
Honey Singh, who launched his own music reality show called India's Raw Star in August, went off stage in November last year. His The Xpose co-star, composer Himesh Reshammiya, has been filling in as judge for the last few weeks.
When his absence was commented on by industry insiders, Honey Singh's spokesperson said (and still maintains) that the singer was unwell and has been advised bed rest. No other details about his illness have been made available, except that he is now recuperating slowly and steadily. Rumours, however, insist that drug abuse had put the singer-actor in rehab.
Gossip also says that Honey Singh has fallen out with one-time mentor Shah Rukh Khan - for who he sang Lungi Dance in Chennai Express - which is why he was also absent from the SLAM! tour last year despite having been on concert tours with SRK in the past.
If 2014 ended on a grim note for Honey Singh, 2015 seems to have begun well. He jointly received the Stardust Award for Best Music Director for his work on Yaariyan. He also spent the first day of the new year at an orphanage.
Apart from his Bollywood hits last year, Honey Singh also delivered hip-hop singles like Love Dose and Desi Kalakaar. Musically speaking, 2015 is a clean slate for him.
